Germany Makes Massive Change to Citizenship Rules to Cut Number of Migrants in Country

Germany’s parliament has repealed a fast-track citizenship programme for well-integrated migrants, highlighting the rapidly shifting mood on immigration in the country. The legislation allowed those who had “exceptionally well integrated” to apply for German citizenship after three years, rather than the usual five.

The rescinded law was only introduced by the previous centre-left SPD-led government in 2024 who argued the measure would attract more overseas workers to fill labour shortages in key industries. Proving hugely unpopular, the programme was used by a couple hundred applicants. However, Friedrich Merz who became Germany’s 10th Chancellor since World War 2 vowed to reverse the policy as part of its broader pledge to tighten immigration controls

Austria: Migrant Schoolboys ‘Gang Rape Teacher and Hold Her as Sex Slave’

A teacher was allegedly raped and abused by a gang of migrant youths who blackmailed her into letting them use her apartment for parties and forced her to pay for food, taxi rides, and tobacco. In a case heard at the Vienna Regional Court, in Austria, the female teacher’s sickening ordeal lasted from July 2024 until January this year.

It’s reported that the main male defendants, a 15-year-old Iraqi, a 17-year-old Romanian, and a 15-year-old Afghan, have all pleaded not guilty to the central charges, which include rape and sexual coercion. It’s alleged that the horrifying ordeal for the woman came to an end when the two 15-year-olds broke into her home when she was away and stole jewellery and watches before setting fire to the home.

"There are documented challenges of integration and social tensions between Muslim youth and Austrian society in general, with schools being one of the main focal points of the debate. In cities with a high concentration of immigrants, such as Vienna (where over 40% of compulsory school students identify as Muslim, according to recent data), schools are the place where these tensions manifest most clearly."

France: Bus Drivers Strike After Brutal Attack on Colleague in Paris

Bus services across the western suburbs of Paris were severely disrupted on Thursday after drivers from the Keolis Argenteuil Boucles de Seine network went on strike to protest a violent assault on one of their colleagues in Le Vésinet.

The 49-year-old driver was attacked late Wednesday afternoon by two passengers and left bleeding inside his vehicle before being taken to the hospital, according to Le Parisien.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. between the Vésinet—Le Pecq and Houilles—Carrières RER A stations. According to investigators, the confrontation began when the driver refused to make an unscheduled stop. The two passengers then attacked him before fleeing on foot through a nearby park. They were later arrested by police and taken into custody. Both suspects, aged 19 and 20, are residents of Val-d’Oise and were previously unknown to the authorities.

Is vandalism of a Christian church protected under the First Amendment?

That’s the claim made by attorneys for three Muslim activists accused of spray-painting graffiti near the entrance of the nondenominational Uncommon Church in Hurst, Texas, located about 10 miles northeast of Fort Worth. The vandalism, which occurred in early March 2024, included an expletive referring to Israel, a swastika, and several inverted red triangles, a symbol used by Hamas and pro-Palestinian protesters to refer to Israeli military targets.

The Would-Be Drone Bombers of Antwerp (a Chechen and a young with Moroccan roots)

Two “Belgian” culture-enrichers have been busted in Antwerp for planning terror attacks using IEDs and drones. Among the intended targets were the Belgian prime minister, Bart De Wever, and Geert Wilders, the leader of the PVV in the Netherlands. The article below from the Flemish daily De Morgen, also translated by Gary Fouse, provides additional details:

Two suspects held in investigation into Antwerp terror cell: Geert Wilders also named as possible target, election campaign suspended
The two suspects arrested yesterday in the investigation into the Antwerp terror cell, which was targeting Prime Minister Bart de Wever (N-VA), have been ordered held in custody by the investigating judge. Meanwhile, the Dutch politician Geert Wilders confirms that he was also named as a target.
One of the suspects being held is A.B., a 23-year-old of Chechen origin from Borsbeek, who was found with a 3D printer. “My client is cooperating with the investigation and has made a statement,” says his lawyer, Sven de Potter.

“He is suspected of a number of terrorist offenses and has been ordered held in custody by the investigating judge. He will appear before the Council Chamber on Wednesday, which will decide on his further custody. As to the contents of his questioning, I cannot say. He is deeply affected by what has happened.”
The other suspect is E.J., an 18-year-old man with Moroccan roots from Sint-Rochusstraat in Deume, close to the residence of De Wever. Components for an explosive device were found in his possession yesterday.

Failled integration in Vienna

"There are documented challenges of integration and social tensions between Muslim youth and Austrian society in general, with schools being one of the main focal points of the debate.

'Muslim Pride will be full of people just like me'

"It's like no Pride I'm ever going to have known before."

Ferhan Khan, a practising Muslim who identifies as a non-binary queer man, is looking forward to an "unforgettable experience" at the UK's first Muslim Pride event on Saturday.

"It's going to be filled with people that are just like me and understand me and I don't need to explain myself to them," says the 39-year-old who uses they/them pronouns.

Organised by Muslim charity Imaan LGBTQI+, Muslim Pride 2024 will be a day's celebration of "queer Muslim culture, activism, and history" says the charity, who expect up to 300 people to attend.

Hosted at Queen Mary University of London, the day will include a panel discussion with scholars and activists from the community, workshops on topics from Islamic feminism to the joys and challenges of being out, and entertainment and performances.

The event was originally scheduled to go ahead in 2020 but was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Sayyada, one of the organisers, says she is "extremely excited" and "a little bit nervous".

"We've worked so hard for this for so many years and we feel like it'll be a really good celebration of our community," the 26-year-old charity trustee said.

"So often when you talk about these multiply-marginalised communities, the whole story is one of doom and gloom, and struggle and rejection, and that kind of thing. We want Saturday to be a story of celebration and joy and finding community together."

Being LGBTQ+ can be a difficult experience for Muslims around the world, and many feel unable to safely come out.

In some Middle Eastern countries where Islam is most commonly practised, homosexuality is against the law.

Census data for England and Wales in 2021 showed that of the followers of major religions, Muslims were least likely to identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or another minority sexual orientation (LGB+), but the most likely to identify as transgender.

This is despite the fact that Islam has the youngest average age of the main religions at 27, and the majority of LGB+ people are aged between 16 and 34.
