Beginning in 711 AD, Muslims conquered Spain over the course of the next seven years. One Visigothic nobleman, Pelayo, refused to submit and retreated into Cantabrian mountains and started the Spanish Reconquista. The Reconquista was completed only in 1492, nearly 800 years after the refusal by Pelayo to submit to Islam. In those 800 years, mountains of Spain sheltered the Spanish patriots.
Stories of all freedom movements reveal this basic fact: the fighters need a base that cannot be overrun by the enemy. There the fighters arm, rearm, relax, recuperate after battles, store arms, and families remain safe.
Daily I think about Pelayo as the war with Islam comes closer all over the kafir world. Technological advances gave kafirs the past 200 years of military superiority and hence unprecedented prosperity. Trade routes were secured, industries stayed safe, and as a result commerce exploded. This has led to the kind of economic development so that a world that was not able to feed one billion human beings till few centuries ago now has a food surplus with a population of eight billion.
But the technology which kafirs have developed and are developing is also reaching Islam in real time. Missiles, drones, radars, and all the means of communication in the Muslim world now match what the technological superpowers, America and Israel, have. Not only is no strategic or infrastructural installation now out of reach for Muslims, with the drones and missiles, we can be sure that there is no mountain now where Pelayo can have his base. Reconquista will no longer be possible.
The modern Western embrace of Islam began after World War II when, to fight the Cold War, the West decided that it needed an alliance with Islam. Was the USSR such an existential threat that the West, in order to have Islam as an ally against it, shut its eyes to its dark truth? After all, Winston Churchill knew and wrote about Islam, even if we assume that the bloodshed that Europe faced from 711 AD to 1822 AD was to the European mind just the usual things that happen in wars. And the heirs to the British Empire, the Americans, had had their own brush with Islam in Barbary wars; and their finest minds,
Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, who both led those wars, had actually studied its theology at that time. But the same Anglo-Saxon world, in its quest for alliance with Islam, blinded the West against Islam through the universities of North America. Scholars such as Wilfred Cantwell Smith and Mircea Eliade consciously decided to take what Islam said about itself as its true history and theology, with no critical scrutiny or scientific methods used in the study of history or development of other religions applied to it. In the initial decades after the World War II, the US State Department and businesses interested in the Middle East financed the Middle East/Islamic Studies departments in North American universities and made sure that nothing critical of Islam came out of the research done by these departments. The funding was later taken over by the Gulf Petrodollars and the omerta around Islam continued, only stronger.
