Israel in Danger: Enemies Foreign and Domestic

• "[Hamas leader Yahya] Sinwar wants everyone to be a martyr—except for him." Now he appears to want to have discussions again on the condition that the Israelis will not try to kill him during the negotiations on a deal. — David Greenfield, CEO and executive director of Met Council, August 28, 2024.

• When Israelis clamor for the release of their hostages, they are, unfortunately, just letting Hamas know what a valuable bargaining chip it has – so the price goes up. For Hamas, if the families of the hostages succeed in getting Netanyahu pushed out of office, so much the better: he will likely be replaced by a "peace" coalition who will grant massive concessions to Hamas and allow it to stay in power.

• As far as the Biden-Harris administration is concerned, a new Israeli prime minister it hand-picks to replace Netanyahu would presumably agree to US demands to let the Palestinians in Gaza set up a sovereign terrorist state on Israel's border, from which to continue attacking Israel until it is destroyed. A new prime minister installed by the Biden-Harris administration would also agree to Iran having as many nuclear weapons as it likes. Iran, after finishing off Israel, which Iran's former President Ali Akhbar Hashemi Rafsanjani called a "one-bomb country," could then resume trying to take over its oil-rich neighbors, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

• The Biden-Harris administration also appears to want Hamas to stay in power because that is what Hamas's patrons, Iran and Qatar (America's supposed ally) want.

• Meanwhile, back in Gaza, the Associated Press reports, "Sinwar wants to end the war — but only on his terms." These terms include a complete Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, including the "Philadelphi Corridor" border between Egypt and Gaza. That is where immense cross-border underground tunnels are located, allowing the resumption of unlimited supplies of new weapons to be smuggled to Hamas in Gaza, as well as the ideal gateway for Hamas leader Sinwar to escape to Egypt's Sinai Peninsula -- with the remaining Israeli hostages in tow.

• For Hamas and Sinwar, the bottom line for is to stay in power to be able to attack Israel "time and again until it is annihilated," as one of its officials, Ghazi Hamad, straightforwardly said.

• Israel's opposition political leaders, journalists, trade unionists, and many senior security officials all appear to be walking into a trap that Hamas has laid out for them: having Israeli anti-government demonstrators demand new elections to force Netanyahu out and a US puppet -- agreeable to terrorist Palestinian state, Hamas's continued rule in Gaza, and a nuclear-armed Iran -- in.

• Hamas, remember, never offered to release all the hostages, only a few, alive or dead. Sinwar will undoubtedly try to string out the negotiations as long as he can – refusing to provide hostage names again, and so on. His job will be to keep as many hostages as long as possible, to buy time for Hamas to resupply and regroup.

The most stupid people in the world

In the Gaza Strip, the harsh reality for LGBTQ+ Palestinians under Hamas rule is one of severe persecution and brutality.

Hamas, the Islamist organization that governs Gaza, enforces Sharia law, under which homosexuality is not merely illegal, but punishable by extreme measures — including torture and execution.

This oppression starkly contrasts with the freedoms enjoyed by LGBTQ+ individuals just across the border in Israel, where the queer community is protected by laws, and is fully integrated into society.

Being queer in Gaza and in Palestinian controlled regions is a perilous existence

For LGBTQ+ Palestinians in Gaza, life is a constant peril. Human rights organizations have documented numerous cases where Hamas has executed individuals suspected of being gay or lesbian. These executions are often publicized through videos and photos as a method of  instilling fear and demonstrating the regime’s strict adherence to its interpretation of Sharia law. The intent is clear: to eliminate any form of dissent and maintain a strict moral code as defined by their interpretation of Islamic law.

Hamas’ treatment of LGBTQ+ individuals includes brutal practices such as executions and torture, and the US State Department confirms that both Hamas — and the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank — persecute gay people. Reports of this oppression are distressingly common. Such acts are not only a violation of basic human rights, but also a clear indication of the regime’s intolerance and cruelty towards LGBTQ+ individuals.

A desperate flight to safety — queer Palestinians must get out in order to be “out” 

Faced with such severe repression, scores of LGBTQ+ Palestinians risk their lives annually to  escape to Israel. The journey is fraught with danger. They must evade detection by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, navigate the perilous border, and often rely on clandestine networks to seek refuge. The contrast between the two regions is stark: in Israel, LGBTQ+ individuals find  legal protection, social acceptance, and community support that are entirely absent in Gaza.

 Fui hoje à Conservatória do Registo Civil de Alcochete. Cheguei às 7h30, para ter a certeza de que conseguia ser atendido. Era o primeiro da bicha. Quando entrámos, às 9h00 (eu e mais uma dúzia de pessoas) carreguei na janela que dizia "Cartão do Cidadão", no fornecedor de fichas. Abriu uma dezena de janelas. A janela que dizia "Levantamento do Cartão" estava aberta. As restantes, uma dezena, tinham todas uma cruz por cima - o que significava que aquele serviço não estava disponível. Ou seja, às 9h00 da manhã, aquela conservatória só entregava cartões do cidadão. As questões colocadas às duas funcionárias que ali estavam, no atendimento, não foram respondidas de uma forma minimamente simpática. E pensar que são os nossos impostos que pagam estes serviços de qualidade espantosa...

E esse problema demográfico traz outros porque se, por um lado, precisamos de mais imigração, a verdade é que os europeus não querem muito mais imigração e há limites ao multiculturalismo", disse o também antigo primeiro-ministro português em Madrid, na conferência "Inspira Portugal, 50 anos depois".
Durão Barroso ressalvou que é "a favor da abertura" e que não tem "um discurso xenófobo, ao contrário".
"Mas temos de reconhecer que hoje, democraticamente, os nossos cidadãos não querem muita imigração, sobretudo quando é imigração de países, de culturas ou de religiões com problemas de integração. É isto que também explica em grande medida a subida dos partidos extremos, xenófobos ou mesmo racistas", afirmou.
Para o ex-presidente da Comissão Europeia é por isso necessário "encontrar uma solução para o problema da imigração".
"Se queremos manter uma Europa sem fronteiras interiores temos de ter claramente uma fronteira exterior. Os cidadãos têm de ter consciência de que estão protegidos. Porque se não há fronteira exterior não há identidade política", afirmou, depois de realçar que o fim das fronteiras entre países da União Europeia (UE) é "uma grande conquista" que tem de ser preservada, dando como exemplo o caso de Portugal e de Espanha.
Durão Barroso defende que Europa deve ter fronteiras externas seguras
"Temos de ter uma gestão inteligente, com sabedoria, das nossas fronteiras. Caso contrário, teremos problemas muito sérios", acrescentou.
Durão Barroso referiu-se à imigração por estar relacionada com aquele que considerou ser um dos maiores problemas estruturais da UE, a demografia, nomeadamente, o envelhecimento populacional dos europeus, que origina "falta de dinamismo, falta de inovação", a par das questões ligadas à sustentabilidade dos sistemas de segurança social.
Neste contexto, além da gestão da imigração, disse serem necessárias "políticas de promoção" da demografia europeia.
Para Durão Barroso, o outro grande problema estrutural europeu está relacionado com a competitividade e a dependência energética.
O antigo primeiro-ministro português realçou como a Europa investe muito menos em inovação e tecnologia do que os Estados Unidos, a China ou até países árabes, num momento em que o mundo vive "uma revolução científica e tecnológica" comparável à revolução industrial, pelos impactos que está a ter e terá nos processos de produção e de circulação de bens, mas também na forma de relacionamento entre as pessoas.
Durão Barroso afirmou que os desenvolvimentos da Inteligência Artificial e outros "vão transformar tudo" e a Europa está a ir atrás dos Estados Unidos e da China.
Para o antigo presidente do executivo comunitário, a Europa tem de deixar de ser "politicamente 'teenager' [adolescente]" e avançar para "uma verdadeira política económica exterior".
"Temos de aproveitar ao máximo a escala europeia, para poder competir a nível global, para poder defender os nossos interesses e valores", afirmou.
Para isso, defendeu a necessidade de a UE "juntar as considerações políticas à política económica exterior, incluindo as questões relacionadas com a descarbonização".
"Não podemos continuar a ser adolescentes geopolíticos (...). Temos de defender os nossos interesses com uma política externa que pense também em termos de segurança, de resiliência, do ponto de vista energético, de um ponto de vista estratégico, a longo prazo, e com empresas fortes que possam defender também os nossos interesses a nível global", afirmou, alertando que há hoje "um mundo muito mais difícil", com guerras na Ucrânia e no Médio Oriente e uma "crise do multilateralismo".
Apesar destes problemas estruturais que apontou à Europa, Durão Barroso disse-se otimista em relação ao futuro da UE e da integração europeia, realçando como as crises sempre foram motores de mobilização para encontrar soluções e avançar na unidade do bloco comunitário, como aconteceu com a crise financeira, com a pandemia da covid-19 ou com a guerra na Ucrânia, que, por exemplo, fez avançar para uma "identidade europeia de defesa".
A conferência "Inspira Portugal, 50 anos depois", organizada pela Embaixada de Portugal em Madrid, decorre hoje na capital espanhola e celebra as relações bilaterais entre Portugal e Espanha, sobretudo, após 50 anos de democracia nos dois países.

The Palestinian Tradition of Celebrating the Death of Jews

    Palestinians have a custom of celebrating in the streets every time Israel is attacked or a Jew is murdered by terrorists.

    It is hard, if not impossible, to find one senior Palestinian official who is willing to criticize his own people for celebrating terrorist attacks. It is also hard, if not impossible, to find one senior Palestinian official who is willing to condemn the October 7 atrocities and massacres against Israelis. Palestinian leaders have good reason not to speak out: they are afraid of being killed by their own people.

    Last month, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, in a speech at the United Nations General Assembly, ignored the Hamas attack and instead accused Israel of committing "massacres," "crimes," and "genocide" against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Needless to say, Abbas also ignored the fact that a large number of Palestinians expressed support for the Hamas-led October 7 attack and took to the streets to celebrate the brutal mass-murder of Israeli women, children and the elderly.

    Palestinian leaders who do not have the courage, or are unwilling, to denounce terrorism will never be able to call on their people to recognize Israel's right to exist, let alone make peace with it. Palestinians who celebrate the murder of their neighbors are not ready for a state, which will undoubtedly be used as a springboard to slaughter more Jews and to try to destroy Israel.

    There is no excuse for celebrating murder. A society that celebrates murder will never be a partner for peace. True peace will only come when Palestinian leaders values their people's lives more than celebrating the murder of Jews.

Palestinians have a custom of celebrating in the streets every time Israel is attacked or a Jew is murdered by terrorists.

The latest Palestinian celebrations took place on October 1, 2024, when Iran launched hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israel. The celebrations occurred even though some of the missiles fell in Palestinian areas in the West Bank and the only person killed was, ironically, a Palestinian man in the city of Jericho.

In one West Bank village, Palestinians erected a monument from the tail of an Iranian missile to celebrate Iran's attack on Israel.

Similar celebrations took place in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and in many countries when Iran launched its first direct missile and drone attack against Israel in April. According to a report by Iran's Tehran Times:

    "It was also a sleepless night in Ramallah and other cities in the occupied West Bank, that saw excited crowds of Palestinians gathering in the streets and pointing to the skies amid the visible trails of Iranian missiles flying, with a celebratory mood until the early hours of Sunday morning."

The largest celebrations occurred a year ago, on October 7, 2023, when thousands of Iran-backed Hamas terrorists and "ordinary" Palestinians invaded Israel from the Gaza Strip and murdered 1,200 Israelis. During the attack, thousands of Israelis were raped, tortured, and burned alive, while more than 240 others were kidnapped into the Gaza Strip. A year later, 101 Israeli hostages are still being held by Hamas terrorists.

Alemanha Promete 'Controlar as Facas' Após Refugiado do ISIS Cortar Gargantas em Festival da Diversidade

Depois que um refugiado muçulmano sírio cortou a garganta de algumas pessoas de meia-idade no Festival da Diversidade, o governo alemão anunciou que proibirá facas com mais de três polegadas de comprimento.

O terrorista do ISIS estava entre os mais de um milhão de migrantes que invadiram a Alemanha alegando serem "refugiados". O migrante também se encontrava na lista dos muitos que deveriam ser deportados, mas que não foram.

Bastava o terrorista muçulmano deixar o alojamento do governo para se evadir da deportação quando as autoridades viessem procurá-lo. E então, quando o migrante árabe muçulmano em idade militar voltasse ao local, a ordem de deportaçãojá teria vencido, portanto, ele não poderia ser deportado. Os refugiados muçulmanos que não foram deportados têm sido um dos maiores fatores de terrorismo, crime e violência na Europa.

Assim, o governo alemão está propondo a proibição de facas com mais de três polegadas de comprimento.

Depois de colocar uma rosa branca no local onde ocorreram as gargantas cortadas no Festival da Diversidade que deixou três mortos e oito feridos, o chanceler Olaf Scholz prometeu que medidas urgentes seriam tomadas contra as facas.

Por enquanto, é permitido na Alemanha, carregar facas de até 4,7 polegadas de comprimento. A lei será alterada para que se possa carregar facas de até 2,4 polegadas de comprimento. Parece que ninguém pensou na possibilidade de que terroristas muçulmanos a caminho para matar o maior número possível de infiéis possam ter violado a lei, fora carregar uma faca escondida de 4 polegadas ou mais. Nem pensar uma coisa dessas.

No entanto, as autoridades também estão propondo zonas "livres de facas" ao redor das estações ferroviárias e outras áreas onde esfaqueamentos e gargantas cortadas tendem a ocorrer, para assim finalmente acabar com a violência.

Em maio, um refugiado muçulmano afegão investiu contra um comício contrário à Jihad na Alemanha, esfaqueando e cortando as gargantas dos participantes, atingindo também um policial que tentava impedir os ativistas anti-imigrantes de lutarem com o refugiado muçulmano que tentava assassiná-los.

As autoridades alemãs responderam prometendo reprimir "crimes com facas" com "medidas mais robustas no sentido de controlar a posse e o porte de facas, penalidades mais duras contra o seu uso indevido e campanhas intensivas de conscientização sobre os perigos".

Se algum terrorista muçulmano ainda não souber sobre os perigos de esfaquear pessoas, a campanha de conscientização o informará.

Houve 13.844 incidentes de "crimes com facas" na Alemanha em 2023, os quais as autoridades atribuem à existência de facas e não aos perpetradores, que são em sua maioria jovens muçulmanos. As autoridades resistiram em vincular o aumento de quase 10% nos crimes com facas à migração muçulmana.

"Embora os que não são alemães estejam desproporcionalmente representados nas estatísticas policiais de crimes com facas, isso por si só não é um insight de muita utilidade", argumentou um "criminologista" entrevistado pela Deutsche Welle.

Juízes assassinos

A minha leitura matinal resume-se ao Público e ao Correio da Manhã. No primeiro, tenho a visão esquerdista deste país, com muita sapiência e textos de página inteira, que requerem um esforço para digerir e ler até ao fim. Notías, poucas e muito woke. 

O Correio da Manhã traz-me um país mais real. Hoje, por exemplo, tinha lá uma notícia sobre um indivíduo que está em prisão preventiva, por ter assassinado a ex-namorada. Fez-lhe uma espera à saída do trabalho e a seguir passou por cima dela, com o carro, sete vezes, esmagando-lhe completamente o crânio. Infelizmente, isto é o tipo de notícia diária, com o Correio da Manhã a dar sempre algum destaque.

No Público, nem vê-las. Por isso é que, nos cafés deste país se encontra, quase, sempre um exemplar do Correio da Manhã. Não me lembro de ter visto uma edição do Públcos nesses cafés. Só, talvez, no café que eu frequento, uma vez que deixo por lá os periódicos que consumo.

Mas voltando à notícia do assassino da ex-namorada. Está em prisão preventiva e vai ser julgado. Acontece que esta é a segunda vez que esse mesmo indivíduo, agora na casa dos 30 anos, será julgado, por matar uma ex-namorada. No seu primeiro assassínio, deram-lhe uma pequena pena de 10 anos. 

Cumprida a pena, saiu e, passado menos de um ano, voltou a matar. Só juízes assassinos é que podem aplicar este tipo de sentenças. E, infelizmente, daqui a 25 anos o indivíduo estará novamente em liberdade. Não seria surpresa que, mesmo com 55, 60 anos, voltasse a cometer este tipo de crimes. 

A lei, neste país, é uma palhaçada que tem como objectivo fundamental "recuperar" e "reintegrar" na sociedade, os criminosos. Por isso é que raramente se aplica a pena máxima, 25 anos. Quanto vale uma vida? Não temos prisão perpétua para um assassino de duas mulheres. Deixamos em liberdade assassinos, com suaves penas de 10 aninhos. Com este resvalar da Justiça para uma clemência inqualificável, com juízes a estimularem - graças às suas sentenças - a prática de crimes, qualquer dia só nos resta fazer Justiça pelas nossas próprias mãos.

Extrema-direita consegue vitória histórica na Áustria

Austria's far-right Freedom Party (FPÖ) has opened the door to a new era, its leader Herbert Kickl has told supporters, as they celebrated an unprecedented election victory. Kickl's party won 28.9% of the vote according to official tallies - almost three points ahead of the conservative People's Party (ÖVP) on 26.3%, but far short of a majority.

Kickl's victory is only the latest in a string of far-right election successes in Europe and he praised voters for their "optimism, courage and trust" in delivering a "piece of history". The FPÖ has been in coalition before, but the second-placed ÖVP has refused to take part in a government led by Kickl.
Kickl's main rival, incumbent Chancellor Karl Nehammer of the ÖVP, has said it was “impossible to form a government with someone who adores conspiracy theories”.

There was a high turnout of 77.3% as Austrian voters took part in an election dominated by the twin issues of migration and asylum, as well as a flagging economy and the war in Ukraine. As half the map of Austria turned dark blue, FPÖ general secretary Michael Schnedlitz said "the men and women of Austria have made history today", although he refused to say what kind of coalition his party would try to build.

Postal votes were still being counted on Monday morning, but an analysis of voters suggested those aged 35-59 were most likely to back the far right, and marginally more women than men. Kickl's party has won 57 seats in the 183-seat parliament, with the conservatives on 51 and the Social Democrats on 41, according to government projections.

Most of the votes have now been counted, but the final result will not be officially declared until Thursday.The Freedom Party's fiery leader had promised Austrians to build "Fortress Austria", to restore their security, prosperity and peace.

The party wants firm rules on legal immigration and it has promoted the idea of remigration, which involves sending asylum seekers to their original countries. It also wants a bar on the right to asylum as a step towards citizenship.

Herbert Kickl has aligned himself closely with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his self-styled "illiberal democracy". On Sunday night, Social Democrat leader Andreas Babler warned that Austria must not follow the same path as Hungary.

Kickl had also spoken of becoming Volkskanzler (people's chancellor) which for some Austrians carries echoes of the term used to describe Adolf Hitler in Nazi Germany. The FPÖ was founded by former Nazis in the 1950s. Two days before the vote some of its candidates were caught on video at a funeral where an SS song was sung.

As the party's victory became clear, a small group of protesters appeared outside parliament carrying anti-Nazi banners. One read "Nazis, get out of parliament", while another said, "Don't let Nazis govern, and never [let them] march".
