Why do Muslims in the West pray at a random place or in the streets?

This is about saying we are here, we are in your face and we will do what we like! Your rules, regulations and customs will not be applied to us. Imposing these beliefs is one step closer to the caliphate. Many Muslims believe that prayer grants them immunity from breaking the law, guarantees them protection from accountability, and gives them the authority to disrupt the interests of others.

They fail to realise that prayer, at its core, “prevents immorality and wrongdoing.” Thus, preventing transportation from crossing roads and tracks under the pretext of performing prayers is both immoral and wrong. Prayer is a personal relationship between an individual and God, and it is preferable that prayer be free from ostentation, does not block roads, and does not negatively affect others. How can an ambulance carrying a sick person pass if the street is blocked for prayer, and even pedestrians are not allowed to cross?

In a statement by Sheikh Othman Al-Khamis, a Kuwaiti cleric, he confirms that praying outside the mosque, while there are empty spaces inside, is invalid and not permissible. So how can it be permissible to pray in an impure street “according to Sharia,” when the condition of Islamic prayer is purity, which includes the purity of the person and the place of prayer?

When former US President Trump issued his decisions at the beginning of his term to ban citizens from several Islamic countries, millions of Americans protested against the decision and sympathised with Muslims, even though the decision did not harm them or affect them in any way. In response, Muslim communities in several states held group prayers in the streets and public squares as a challenge to Trump and his supporters, giving their actions a religious tint, disrupting traffic, and harming the interests of Americans who viewed it as a challenge to the law and an attempt to impose a religious identity on civil and rights movements.

Even mosque-goers, after the Tarawih prayer (an evening prayer during Ramadan immediately after breaking the fast), when they leave the mosque late at night, or after the Fajr prayer (early morning prayer), when they leave early in the morning, create noise and loud conversations, without considering others in the neighbourhood (children, the elderly,.).

Adding to the complexity of this issue is the support provided by extremist leftist and anarchist groups within Europe. Their shared anti-Western and anti-establishment agendas create a concerning alliance that bolsters the aims of extremist elements.

The pillars of Islam:

1. The Shahada (Declaration of Faith) / Takbir.
2. Performing Salah (Prayer).
3. Giving Zakat (Alms).
4. Fasting during Ramadan.
5. Hajj (Pilgrimage to Mecca for those who are able).

Despite the existence of thousands of religions in the world, each with its own principles and rules, some Muslims prominently display their faith’s pillars to the world. You can see them performing “Shahada/Takbir” (proclaiming the greatness of Allah) and reciting the Shahada in streets, institutions, and media. Similarly, they perform prayers publicly and expect the world to abstain from eating and drinking during Ramadan out of “respect” for their fasting, yet they rarely speak about giving Zakat/Alms publicly, despite it also being one of their faith’s pillars.

Why don’t Muslims show the same enthusiasm in discussing Zakat as they do with prayer, fasting, and Takbir? If some claim that they donate “without boasting,” this is a questionable assertion. If 2 billion Muslims were truly donating Zakat/Alms, even secretly, there would be no poor among them.

It is also important to note that Zakat funds, in its “humanitarian concept”, should be for every needy person in the country, as is the practice in the West, where no one is asked about their religion when receiving donations and government aid. However, Islam prohibits the payment of zakat money to non-Muslims.
