"Covering one's hair here so as not to offend believers": in Rosny-sous-Bois, the female mayor wears a veil at the mosque

The images of the socialist mayor of Rosny-sous-Bois wearing an Islamic veil in the city's grand mosque, during her address to the faithful, are sparking reactions. They raise questions as the respect for secularism (laïcité) appears to be compromised.

"We would like to thank Madame Mayor, this is a first in Rosny, it is the first time the mayor is a woman, it is an honor for all women! It is a mission that awaits her, a mandate that requires a lot of responsibility, a lot of effort (...)"

My Sunday Morning Reality Check (From: Maurice Boland )

Why are so many of these self-appointed activists let’s call them “The Thunbergs” for want of a better name seemingly oblivious to the dangers of the causes they champion while marching through the streets of Europe and America?

Many proudly wave flags, wear Palestinian keffiyehs, chant slogans, and proclaim solidarity, yet appear to have little to knowvunderstanding of the organizations and ideologies they are indirectly supporting.
Iran openly states that it supports what it calls the “Axis of Resistance” a network of armed groups and political movements opposed to Israel, American influence in the Middle East, and various regional rivals. Iran argues that these groups protect its interests and strengthen its influence. Critics argue that they are simply proxies used to project military power while avoiding direct confrontation.

Here is the uncomfortable reality:

Many of those marching in Western cities would never accept living under the values and systems promoted by some of the groups they celebrate.
So I ask a simple question:

To every protester marching through the streets wearing a black-and-white Palestinian keffiyeh, do you genuinely want to live under strict Sharia law because that is what it will mean once these terrorist organization start taking over countries in the west , all you need is to look at is UK and Sweden or even New York to realize it’s already happening!!!
To the women leading chants and demonstrations in support of Hamas and similar movements, have you seriously considered what the ambitions of Islamic fundamentalists would mean for your freedoms?

Would you willingly surrender the rights you currently enjoy?

The right to dress as you choose.
The right to criticise your government.
The right to vote.
The right to pursue education and employment without restriction.
The right to publicly express your opinions without fear of punishment.

In several countries governed by strict interpretations of Sharia law, women face severe restrictions. Some have been imprisoned for defying dress codes, for dancing in public, for expressing political opinions online, or for simply challenging authority. Bottom line are you women ready to be imprisoned for not covering up any sign of your skin ??? Stop and think seriously of what I’ve just said !

Yet millions in the West march under banners supporting movements whose vision of society is fundamentally incompatible with the freedoms they themselves enjoy every day.
That is the contradiction nobody wants to discuss.
Before chanting slogans, waving flags, and declaring solidarity, people should understand exactly who they are supporting.
Among the organisations commonly described as being backed by Iran are:

• Hezbollah in Lebanon — Iran’s closest and most powerful regional ally, supported with funding, weapons and training for decades.
• Hamas in Gaza — a recipient of Iranian financial and military support, although it maintains its own leadership and objectives.
• Palestinian Islamic Jihad in Gaza — widely regarded as one of Iran’s closest Palestinian allies.
• Ansar Allah (the Houthis) in Yemen — accused by many governments of receiving Iranian weapons, training and political support.
• Iraqi Shiite militias including Kataib Hezbollah, Asaib Ahl al-Haq and Harakat al-Nujaba.
• Various pro-Iran militias operating in Syria, including groups recruited from Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
The harsh reality is this:
Many of those applauding these movements from the safety of Western democracies would be among the first to lose their freedoms if the values of these organisations ever became the governing principles of their own societies.

Protest by all means.
Support peace by all means.
Advocate for civilians caught in conflict by all means.
But understand who you are supporting, understand what they stand for, and understand the consequences of the world they seek to build.
Ignorance is not a virtue. Blind activism is not wisdom. And slogans are no substitute for understanding.
So please think about it before you think it’s cool to take to the streets wearing one of those black and white scarves chanting for support for those who could eventually destroy your life or could rape you without consciousness!!!!
