Mohamed Bakkali, the logistical brain behind the Paris and Bataclan attacks that killed 130 and injured hundreds more, has been allowed penitentiary leave by a Brussels court.
The court highlighted his “calm and respectful” (*) behaviour in prison.
If he continues his “good” behaviour, he could potentially be freed indefinitely long before the end of his sentence in 2040.
(*) Taqiyya is an Arabic term meaning "prudence," "cautiousness," or "fear". In English, it translates closely to "precautionary dissimulation". It refers to the theological dispensation that allows a Muslim to conceal their faith or outwardly conform to avoid imminent threat, persecution, or mortal peril.
