A new version of the fable the Scorpion and the Frog (or how Europe is sinking...)

A Scorpion, who could not swim, came to the bank of a river and asked a Frog to carry him across. "I can't do that," said the Frog. "If I let you on my back, you might sting me."

"Don't be ridiculous," replied the Scorpion. "If I were to sting you, you would sink, and I would drown. What possible good would that do me?"

The Frog thought about this for a moment. The Scorpion's logic seemed sound. "Very well," the Frog said, "hop on."

The Scorpion climbed onto the Frog's back, and the Frog began to paddle across the river. They reached the middle, where the water was deep, and suddenly, the Frog felt a searing pain. The Scorpion had stung him!

The Frog's body began to go numb and sink. With his dying breath, he cried out, "Why? Why would you do that? Now you will drown too!"

The Scorpion watched the water rise around them, a look of despair in his eyes, and replied, "I couldn't help it. It is my nature."
